Common Questions
Fingerprinting FAQs — New Mexico
Do I need an appointment for fingerprinting?
We highly recommend scheduling in advance at abqfingerprinting.com to guarantee your spot and minimize wait time. Walk-ins are welcome at all six New Mexico locations including Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Las Cruces, Taos, Farmington, and Carlsbad.
Walk-in customers may be asked to register for a same-day appointment on-site using our QR code before being seen. All payments are processed online at the time of booking. On-site payment is available exclusively at the Albuquerque main office at 3620 Wyoming Blvd NE Suite 117.
Can I get same-day FBI background check results?
ABQ Fingerprinting submits fingerprints to the FBI electronically the same day as your appointment. Processing typically takes 24 to 48 hours, significantly faster than traditional mail-in cards which can take 8 to 12 weeks.
Results are delivered as a PDF directly to your email, usually within 1 to 2 business days. Processing times may vary during peak periods or if additional review is required.
What types of fingerprint cards do you provide?
ABQ Fingerprinting provides digital fingerprint card services at all six New Mexico locations. Cards available include the FD-258 (standard FBI fingerprint card), FD-1164, SF-87, state-specific cards for Maryland, New Jersey, and Ohio, and child identification cards.
All cards are captured digitally and printed to federal standards. Not ink roll. Cards can be mailed directly to licensing boards, employers, or federal agencies. Call (877) 340-8822 or book online at abqfingerprinting.com.
Do you offer mobile fingerprinting services for groups
Yes. Mobile fingerprinting is available statewide for groups of 15 or more. ABQ Fingerprinting brings certified LiveScan equipment directly to your location. Ideal for employers, schools, nonprofits, government agencies,
IHS facilities, and Navajo Nation programs. Available across Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Las Cruces, Taos, Farmington, Carlsbad, and surrounding areas. Call (505) 414-1787 to request a quote or schedule a mobile event.
Can I use my ATF-EFT file for multiple NFA items?
Yes. Your ATF-EFT file can be reused for multiple Form 1 and Form 4 NFA applications, whether for a single suppressor or an entire NFA collection. ABQ Fingerprinting delivers your EFT file by email and loads it onto a flash drive on site.
The file remains valid as long as your fingerprints have not changed significantly, meaning most customers use it for years without needing new fingerprints.
What types of ID do you accept for fingerprinting?
ABQ Fingerprinting accepts any valid government-issued photo ID including driver's licenses, state ID cards, passports, military IDs, permanent resident cards, and employment authorization documents.
The ID must be current and not expired. For minors, a parent or legal guardian must be present with their own valid ID. International visitors may use a passport. Call (877) 340-8822 with questions about a specific form of ID before your appointment.
